Yuma Díaz is a multidisciplinary artist, cultural promoter, designer and social communicator specializing in cultural entrepreneurship. It is her gorgeous work that adorns the packaging of our gourmet coffee products, serving as the first symbolic step of Sirena's effort to propagate the beauty and culture of the Oaxacan region to broader world. Additionally, her work is a primary feature at Sirena's Hautulco, Oaxaca tasting house and interpretive center.
Yuma's mission is to seek the exaltation and projection of the feminine art of the Indigenous peoples, as well as to seek the decolonizing process through it, to reinforce the value of the artistic creation of the peoples through their rich tradition of expression in the search for recognition of ancestral expression as art, not as crafts.
Since her childhood, she has been involved in a variety of artistic and medical activities. The interest to delve into art and culture led her to develop an artistic project that includes the realization of oil paintings, textile design, Street art, body Paint and photography, which is recreated in a personal representation of her town, Guelatao and its people, the socio-cultural environment, respect for nature, ancestry, the mysticism of the peoples, even the ways of community organization. She has traveled the world as an Oaxacan cultural representative and promoter.
Yuma has worked to promote efforts to generate resources through the sale of art to procure funding for a Zapotec art school, where children and young people will be trained in the rich tradition of their own culture and experience.
